My Philosophy
I believe the body has an innate ability to restore and regenerate itself. Sometimes the body needs a helping hand and a little guidance in order to make the necessary changes to function at its optimum.
The tissues in our bodies tell the story of our lives – the body adapts and compensates following challenges and traumas be they physical, emotional, chemical or spiritual. The physical challenges can begin as long ago as when we were in our mother’s womb or during the birth process and can carry on affecting us throughout our lives.
Our role as Osteopaths is to decipher the bodies messages and identify the blockages and obstacles that are impeding the body’s own self-healing mechanisms. Treatment aims to unwind these reactions back to a point of homeostasis (balance), thereby facilitating optimal function and health on multiple levels.
As well as releasing tensions in the body the treatment has a positive effect on the nervous system. Helping calm the Sympathetic “fight, flight, freeze” nervous system and activate the Parasympathetic “rest and digest” nervous system so the patient can be in a better place to restore, regenerate and return to normal function.
